"A busy day for Philadelphia Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher. Just a couple of minutes after claiming forward Zack MacEwen off waivers from the Vancouver Canucks, he was forced to make another roster move. Fletcher announced that the team has placed forward Kevin Hayes on long term injured reserve. Hayes was expected to miss a couple of games to start the season after some very late offseason surgery. However this puts him sidelined for more than just a couple of games as the earliest he'll be eligible to return is November 10 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Hayes registered 31 points in 55 games for the Flyers last year, his second season with the team. More details to come.
