Philadelphia Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher recently held a press conference to discuss where the Flyers with their offseason plans. The first big move of the offseason for Fletcher was trading for the negotiation rights of pending free agent Kevin Hayes. Within 24hrs of the trade, indications were that Hayes was ready to sign a contract, however now almost a week later a contract has yet to be signed. However things aren't necessarily going as everybody would like, but Hayes is in town this week to visit Philly and Flyers management which is at least a step in the right direction. Now it seems that Fletcher is putting the pressure on Hayes with his team in town. According to Dave Isaac, the Flyers have given Hayes a deadline to get a deal done before the NHL Draft which starts next Friday so the Flyers can make other plans if need be. This is Hayes first taste of free agency after establishing himself as an NHL player (he went through free agency after refusing to sign an ELC with the Chicago Blackhawks), and he's clearly earned the right to explore his options so pressure tactics might not work in Fletcher's favour. More to come.
