"Claude Giroux was held off the scoresheet on Tuesday night, but he made the biggest play of the game in the Flyers 2-1 overtime win at the Carolina Panthers.
Moments before Jordan Weal scored the game winning goal, the Hurricanes looked like they had the game won. A Giroux turnover in the neutral zone led to a 2-on-1 rush, but the captain skated hard back to his net.
Brian Elliott made a great stick save on Jordan Staal's first shot and Giroux got back in time to bat the puck out of mid-air and prevent it from going into the net and then turned around and dove in time to stop Jeff Skinner's scoring chance. Weal ended the game about 40 seconds later.

"That was kind of a desperate play," Giroux said after the game. "They had a two-on-one and (Elliott) did a good job of touching it with his stick, then I was able to touch it I don't know, it happened so quick."
Even though Giroux is still averaging over a point per game and has already equaled his point total from last season, he is not satisfied.
"Some guys are playing their best hockey of the season, but personally, I've got to step up and bring more for the team," he said. "
