Flyers Expected To Lose Top 6 Forward To Seattle?

The Philadelphia Flyers are expected to add a big piece this summer and mostly likely on the blueline. The team has been heavily linked to Seth Jones through trade and Dougie Hamilton through free agency, but they'll also be saying goodbye to one piece. This year's offseason brings the Seattle Kraken expansion draft and that means the Flyers will be losing a roster player. While some early speculation had the Kraken going the cheaper route and taking Nicolas Aube-Kubel and his $1.075million cap hit, it seems they might be going for a top six forward. Philly will leave some big names exposed hoping to get some cap relief and according to Ryan S. Clarke of The Athletic, they might get it. Clarke says both Jakub Voracek and James van Riemsdyk are serious options for the Kraken. "Going with either player instantly gives the Kraken a proven veteran forward with a history of producing. It just comes with a few caveats. Van Riemsdyk has hit the 20-goal mark six times in his career and was on pace to finish this season with what would have been a career-high 63 points over an 82-game regular season. But the 32-year-old will earn $7 million annually over the next two years. Voracek also has hit the 20-goal plateau six times and was on pace for a 67-point campaign over an 82-game season this year. But again, taking the 31-year-old Voracek carries an $8.25 million annual price tag with three years left on his contract. It's possible the Kraken could see if the Flyers are willing to retain some salary should they select van Riemsdyk or Voracek. There is just no guaranteeing the Flyers would go that route."
While possibilities, it's no sure thing the Flyers would retain salary but stranger things have happened.
