The Philadelphia Flyers have one clear target to fix during the offseason and that's the team's blueline. One name we keep hearing attached to the Flyers is disgruntled Columbus Blue Jackets' defenseman Seth Jones and where there's smoke there's fire. A Jones trade to the Flyers is starting to look closer to reality than fiction. Jones has already told the Blue Jackets that he'll be testing free agency after this season and won't be signing an extension, so the Blue Jackets are trying to ship him out of town instead of losing him for nothing next offseason. According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Flyers are the team trying to get that deal as soon as possible. "Still hearing a lot of Philadelphia and Jones. The Flyers are definitely working at it."Jones would definitely help fill the lack of talent on the blueline that was hurt when Matt Niskanen suddenly retired last year. The 26 year old will be looking for a contract extension from whatever team he's dealt to and the Flyers will likely be more than happy to hand that out to him.
