The Flyers and Oilers head into tonight's matchup both coming off of wins over the Calgary Flames. The Oilers beat their Alberta rivals 7-5 on Saturday before the Flyers snapped their 10-game losing streak with a 5-2 win in Calgary on Monday.
The Flyers won the first meeting of the year between these two teams with a 2-1 victory at the Wells Fargo Center back on October 21. Claude Giroux and Wayne Simmonds both scored while Brian Elliott made 23 saves.
Both goaltender Michal Neuvirth and defenseman Brandon Manning were placed on injured reserve today. Alex Lyon was recalled for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and will backup Elliott while Neuvirth is out, which expected to only be about a week.
Mark Alt will take Manning's place in the lineup tonight. T.J. Brennan was recalled to be an extra body, but it is doubtful he will see any game action. Manning will be out for three to four weeks, but Radko Gudas has just two games left on his 10-game suspension and will be back in the lineup when the Flyers return home against the Toronto Maple Leafs next Tuesday.
