For many top NHL prospects, the World Junior Championships can be a tremendous opportunity in their career. From being able to represent their countries, playing alongside some of hockey's best prospects, and showing the world their potential, the opportunity to play in a WJC is once-in-a lifetime. For one Flyers prospect, he was unable to get his opportunity to play in the WJC due to contract negotiations.
Flyers top goalie prospect, 18-year-old Carson Bjarnson from Carberry, Canada showed immense interest to be a member of Team Canada for the 2024 World Junior Championships. After consistently speaking with his agent and expecting an offer, Bjarnson somehow never received an invite to play with Team Canada in 2024.
Although disappointed, Bjarnson understood and is eager for his opportunity to make the team the next go around. Bjarnson has a great case to make the team as he is turning in a stellar season in the WHL.
In 32 games, Bjarnson amassed a record of 18-10-3 along with a .908 save percentage and a shutout on the season. The Flyers 2023 second round pick is developing nicely and Flyers fans still have plenty to be excited about with Bjarnson.
