"The Philadelphia Flyers will likely sign at least one top tier free agent this summer as the team needs a little bit of help to improve on last season. We heard the rumblings of a possible Wayne Simmonds for Dougie Hamilton trade, however that never materialized and Hamilton went to the Carolina Hurricanes. Hextall has stated that the Flyers are looking to re-sign Simmonds and have the money to be a player during free agency. One of the Flyers likely top targets is Toronto Maple Leafs' forward James van Riemsdyk. The 29 year old winger is a consistent scorer and just put up 36 goals last season for the Leafs with the highest shooting percentage of his career at 14.5%. The only road block between the Flyers landing JVR is that the sniper is likely looking for a six or seven year deal, something the Flyers might not be willing to cough up. Would you be willing to give JVR a six or seven year deal?
As expected, significant interest with 10-plus teams engaged with the James van Riemsdyk camp. JvR is a deliberate and thorough guy, my sense is he will use the entire time available to work through the process.
