It wasn't that long ago when the Blue Jackets looked like shoe ins to come out of the Metropolitan Division and the Flyers playoff hopes were fading. Now, the Flyers have the third spot on the division while the Blue Jackets are on the outside looking in. They are currently one point behind the Carolina Hurricanes for the final wild card spot.
The Blue Jackets have lost six out of their last eight games, including five in regulation. They continued to slide down the standings with a 6-3 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night despite holding a 57-28 advantage in shots on goal.
The Flyers penalty kill has been a glaring weakness throughout the entire season, but they have only given up one goal in their nine opportunities. They have a chance to improve even further tonight as the Blue Jackets enter play with the NHL's worst power play unit.
The Flyers will face their old friend Sergei Bobrovsky, who has not been kind to his former team. Bobrovsky is 9-2-0 with 1.79 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage in his career versus the Flyers. He has won all six of his starts against the Flyers at the Nationwide Arena.
