Flyers Prospect Alex Lyon Obliterates Phantoms AHL Record.

While the current NHL goalie situation might not be pretty, two Philadelphia Flyers goalie prospects are showing plenty of promise. Just over a week ago, 19 year old goalie prospect, Carter Hart, set a new WHL record by winning the 2017-18 Del Wilson Memorial Trophy for the third year in a row, becoming the first goalie to win the award for three years straight. While Hart might need some more seasoning before coming to the NHL, 25 year old Alex Lyons is hopefully closer. Lyons has proven he could be ready after his brief stint in the NHL this past season, putting up a 2.75 goals against average and .905 save percentage in 11 games.The Lehigh Valley Phantoms starting goalie also proved that he has great conditioning and endurance with an incredible playoff performance on Wednesday night. Lyons helped lead the Phantoms to a 2-1 quintuple overtime win in Game 4 of their series against the Charlotte Checkers. In the game Lyons put up an incredible 94 save performance in what has been recorded as the longest game in AHL history. The goalie broke the previous Phantoms record of 66 saves in a single game, however didn't break the AHL record coming just a couple shy of Michael Leighton's record of 98 which he set in 2008.
