"The Philadelphia Flyers organization has had a busy 24 hours. During their 3-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday, news broke that the team signed forward Maksim Sushko to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Sushko, 19, currently has 30 goals and 55 points in 57 games for the Owen Sound Attack in the Ontario Hockey League. He also had two goals and six assists during this year's World Junior Championship for his native Belarus. Drafted in the fourth-round last June, Sushko becomes the fourth member of the 2017 draft class to sign an entry-level deal, joining Nolan Patrick, Morgan Frost and Isaac Ratcliffe.
The news didn't stop there as the Lehigh Valley Phantoms announced on Monday afternoon that they have given head coach Scott Gordon a contract extension, which they did not disclose the terms of. In his nearly three seasons behind the bench, Gordon has done a good job of both winning and developing young talent.
Last season, Gordon led the Phantoms to the Calder Cup playoffs for the first time in nine years. The Phantoms are currently sitting atop the Atlantic Division and have the most points in the AHL with 87. They will be one of the favorites to bring home the AHL title this spring.
The #LVPhantoms have signed head coach Scott Gordon to a contract extension. Now in his 3rd season with Lehigh Valley, he has guided the Phantoms to an impressive 40-16-3-4 overall mark this season and first place in the Atlantic Division.
