As the lockdown continues across North America because of the coronavirus pandemic, NHL business resumes as usual minus the games. Teams are still signing players to extensions and signing NCAA prospects to entry level contracts. That's exactly what Philadelphia Flyers' general manager Chuck Fletcher did with the signings of Tanner Laczynski and Wade Allison.Fletcher has already stated that he expects both players to push for an NHL roster spot when 2020-21 training camp opens which likely means it's the end of the road for a different Flyers prospect. Earlier this year Corey Pronman of The Athletic reported that the Flyers were considering trading Mikhail Vorobyev at the deadline and now it seems his time is likely up with Laczynski and Allison around. Here's what Pronman wrote about Vorobyev at the time. "Vorobyev has been on the NHL bubble the last two seasons, being a good if not a very good AHL player but not quite good enough to stick at the top level. He has size, great offensive IQ and can play at both ends but lacks NHL-level quickness. I don't sense there would be much of a market for him, but with Morgan Frost getting close to being a full-time player and his expiring contract, Vorobyev would be a logical player to move."
Those words ring even harder now.
