The Philadelphia Flyers and head coach John Tortorella made the official decision to name Sean Couturier the 20th Team Captain in Philadelphia Flyers history. Along with Couturier, Scott Laughton and Travis Konecny were also named alternate captains for their tough play and dedication to their teammates. Despite being named alternate captain, could Laughton still be included in trade rumors?
With the trade deadline approaching, it has been no secret that Scott Laughton has been a name that has been thrown around. Although nothing has come of it yet, it is being reported that the Flyers are asking for at least a first round pick, in return for Laughton.
The reason Laughton has been a name for teams like the Canucks and Oilers is only because the market around centers is extremely thin this season, and Laughton is someone who could immediately impact a team.
Although Tortorella said that the Flyers aren't actively selling specific guys to teams, he did say that if the right deal comes and it makes sense as far as fitting the process of the organization, it must be done.

With Laughton's name being tossed around, one Flyers reporter offered an interesting insight as to what would happen next with the Alternate Captain position on the Flyers.
"If Scott Laughton does indeed get moved at the trade deadline. I would think
Joel Farabee would get the "A"in his place. He really is evolving into a leader himself, but
Claude Giroux did say Farabee was Captain material before he was traded to Florida."
Farabee has by far had the best season of his young career this season, putting up 41 points on 17 goals and 24 assists.
Although unlikely, it would be really interesting to see Laughton moved after being named an Alternate Captain.
