Philadelphia Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher is making moves with no hesitation. While he's still trying to figure out the Kevin Hayes situation, Fletcher has bought out Andrew MacDonald and traded Radko Gudas for Matt Niskanen. Many expected that Fletcher would have the Hayes situation figured out already and Fletcher himself has pointed at the draft as the deadline to get the deal done. Hayes was in Philly last week to visit and get to know the management group and Wells Fargo Center. Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports what it's going to take to land Hayes. According to Friedman, the Flyers will have to give up at least $6.5-7million a season to get Hayes locked up. Fletcher has already expressed he'd like to get him locked up, but isn't going to overpay. "I think he's a guy who's familiar with our coach and our coach is familiar with him," Fletcher said. "If he signs, that will help. There shouldn't be any learning curve. He should be able to step in seamlessly if we're able to sign him."
Like any free agency deal, it's probably going to take a six or seven year commitment. Would you be willing to give Hayes that type of contract?
