The unique look of a dog mask, has become a symbol in Philadelphia sports in the past decade. From the Philadelphia Eagles first dawning the dog mask to represent the "underdog" mentality in 2017 after winning a Super Bowl as underdogs to the Flyers bringing it out after wins, the underdog mask has come to be a common theme in Philadelphia sports.

After snapping a five game losing streak on Tuesday night by defeating a tough Florida Panthers team 2-1 in their first game back from the All-Star break, the Flyers channeled their inner Jason Kelce and brought out the underdog mask last night.
Each win, the Flyers bring the mask out and the team chooses someone to put the mask on, let out a few barks, and give a short speech to the team. Last night, goalie Samuel Ersson was chosen to dawn the mask as he turned in a stellar performance to keep a lethal Panther offense at bay.
After struggling in the past five games giving up 27 goals as not only the Flyers were struggling but the Carter Hart situation also put pressure on Ersson, the Flyers netminder was close to perfect on Tuesday night. Ersson stopped 21 of 22 shots on a .952 save percentage and only allowed one goal.
If Ersson can settle in and find his rhythm, many of the Flyers problems could be solved.
