Before the Philadelphia Flyers hit western Canada for a road trip, things looked to be rolling. You can't blame the Flyers for hitting a wall after a trip to Prague followed by just one home game before hitting the road. The Flyers opponents in Prague, the Blackhawks, were given a seven game home stand following the Euro trip. Sometimes early road trips are a good thing for teams that went through a bunch of offseason changes like the Flyers, however not usually after playing the first game of the season in Europe. Despite the small struggles, one Flyers forward is enjoying some early season success and thanks the coaching staff. Oskar Lindblom is following up his breakout 2017-18 season of 17 goals with three goals already in his first five games. The new coaching staff has given Lindblom plenty of ice time and opportunities which includes currently playing on the second line with Sean Couturier and Travis Konecny.
"Of course it feels good to play in a lot of situations. That's what every player wants," Lindblom said. "We have new coaches here and I just want to play good and be a player they feel confident putting out on the ice."
He's even played on a line with Jakub Voracek and Kevin Hayes, playing in the top six opens up opportunities for Lindblom that he loves to bury. "We have a lot of skilled players on our team. They get a lot of attention from the [opposing] D. If you get open, they can get you the puck in good areas," Lindblom said.
If he keeps it up, he should have no problem topping his 17 goals from last year.
