It's been quite the busy summer for the Philadelphia Flyers defensive group. Radko Gudas was moved to the Washington Capitals for Matt Niskanen while Justin Braun was acquired from the San Jose Sharks for some draft picks. The team also decided to buy out Andrew MacDonald and David Schlemko during the summer. The moves had a lot of people wondering if Shayne Gostisbehere still had a place on the team. Gostisbehere has been mentioned in trade rumors going back to last year and it didn't help that he had a down year after putting putting up career highs in 2017-18. When you're mentioned as much as Gostisbehere was this summer in trade rumors, it's kind of hard to ignore and Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post asked Gostisbehere about it recently. "I haven't really talked. Of course my agent's gonna say, Hey man, your name's been thrown out there. Don't listen to it,' but obviously you keep tabs on it. My mom and my girlfriend, my support system, they always say to do what's in my control and that's me getting stronger and better and healing up from the season. That's really all I can control. If I get traded, I get traded. I obviously don't want to. I want to be here and be a part of what's growing here and the step we're gonna take forward this year, but again, it's not in my control so I can't really say. Obviously you're gonna think about it because you have a whole life here but it's the nature of the beast. It's the name of the game. It's part of playing in the NHL." Gostisbehere dealt with an injury last year which can explain some of the drop in his production.
