The Toronto Maple Leafs' season again ended in the first round of the playoffs, with many looking for answers. Now, the offseason begins and William Nylander and Auston Matthews have new contracts that are due to kick in. For this reason, there are rumors that Mitch Marner is the odd man out. Kevin McGran of the Toronto Star has made a trade proposal that would see Marner traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning in a one for one deal.

Kevin McGran trade proposal would see Mitch Marner going to the Lighting and the Maple Leafs receiving Mikhail Sergachev in return. McGran has noted some "Rubmlings" and that Mikhail Sergachev may want to be a number one defender on a team. Also, the Maple Leafs are looking for a number one defenseman. Marner has a $10.9 million cap hit so the Maple Leafs would also shed some salary in this deal. However, with Marner having a no trade clause, he could very well stay in Toronto if he prefers.
