The Philadelphia Flyers 2024 All-Star is not only proving to have the best season of his career this season, but it also proving he is a cornerstone player of the franchise and a perfect embodiment of the city of Philadelphia. Thursday night was no different as Travis Konecny singlehandedly dominated one of the top teams in the NHL and even made a little bit of history.
To begin the night with just one minute having gone by in the first period, Konecny dropped gloves with the Winnipeg Jets Neal Pionk, and then proceeded to drop Pionk as he was the clear winner of the fight, connecting on a killer uppercut.
Immediately following his time in the penalty box, Konecny launched out of the box like a bullet and found the back of the net as, ironically, he bounced the puck off of Pinok and into the goal to give the Flyers a 2-0 lead in the first period.

Konecny made history before the first period ended as an assist on a Morgan Frost goal not only gave the Flyers a dominant 3-0 lead at the end of the first, but it also gave Travis Konecny a Gordie Howe Hat Trick, which consists of a goal, assist, and a fight in the same game.
The last Flyer to record a Gordie Howe Hat Trick in the first period came in 2017 with Flyer legend Wayne Simmonds against the New York Islanders.
Konecny was dominant all night and set the tone against another top team in the NHL. The entire team was skating with confidence and swagger that was all stemming from Konecny. The two time All-Star is proving that he's not only a player who deserves a long-term contract, but he is a player who is deserving of being named Captain.
