In the 2023 NHL draft, the Philadelphia Flyers selected Matvei Michkov with the 7th overall pick. It was understood that Matvei Michkov would have to play in the KHL in Russia for the next three seasons. However, signs points to Flyers' prospect Matvei Michkov playing in the NHL this upcoming season.

More signs pointing toward Matvei Michkov coming to the Flyers next season
Matvei Michkov played for Sochi in the KHL and had a great season. On the year, he scored 19 goals and 22 assists in 47 games played. After his season in Russia, there have been signs of him playing in North America. Michkov recently posted a picture of him working out on Instagram while wearing a Flyers shirt. Also, Michkov may come to North America sooner due to his relationship with the SKA head coach. The head coach just left him off the 25-man national team roster for Team Russia. Michkov is still under contract in the KHL for two more seasons, so for him to come to North America, the contract must be terminated by the KHL club. This seems to be a real possibility and good news for the Flyers.
