Flyers fans watch as Michkov continues to dazzle in the KHL

The drafting of Matvei Michkov was certainly a controversial one across the NHL during the 2023 Entry Draft. Several teams including the Montreal Canadiens were looking at him as a potential selection but chose to pass due to a variety of reasons including the country where he's from.
Flyers general manager Danny Briere made no hesitation and chose him at 7th overall. After having a rocky start to his season being a healthy scratch with SKA Saint Petersburg, he was returned to HC Sochi on loan where he has been tearing up the league ever since.
The 19-year-old budding superstar is giving other teams pause as his talent continues to shine and his development continues to grow.

In the past 34 games, he has scored 13 goals with 16 assists for 29 points and has 18 penalty minutes.
This player will continue to be watched as he develops, and it remains to be seen on how and when he will arrive in North America due to his current contract which he signed with KHL which will keep him in Russia at least till 2025.
