37 years ago today, the hockey world lost a legend in a tragic accident, Pelle Lindbergh.
Bernie Parent of the Flyers was idolized by him. He studied under Parent, dressed up to look like Parent, and performed the role of Parent in the 19841985 season.
He was the little Swedish goaltender who adored life, hockey, and the Flyers.
That year, he guided the Flyers over the Oilers in the championship game. Unfortunately, the squad and goaltender had run out of ammunition by the time they arrived. Due to an injury, Lindbergh was unable to participate in that year's championship game versus Edmonton.

He won the Vezina Trophy that year, and the next year he appeared to continue where he had left off.
Unfortunately, his life was tragically cut short when he drunkenly slammed his Porsche into the wall of a South Jersey primary school, ending his career and his chance at ultimate glory.
''37 years ago tonight, we won our 10th game in a row. With a break in the schedule, we went out to celebrate. None of us would ever be totally the same again. Please drive safely, and don't drink and drive. RIP Pelle Lindbergh: our goalie, our friend.''
