The Flyers have many tradable pieces but not many of them could fetch a return like Travis Konecny. With the team heading towards a rebuild, Konecny is one of the few players not named Giroux who could potentially fetch high-end prospects.
The team is in shambles right now and Konecny, although not soon to be a free agent, has been a player teams are looking at. His status as a signed player could work in GM Chuck Fletcher's favor as being a rental player could mean less assets.
Konecny is 24 years old and has three years left at $5.5 million. Although his contact is expensive, a team looking for a heart and soul guy to lead a rebuild could be interested.
Enter the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings have been slowly but surely rebuilding their dynasty. Having traded
Tyler Toffoli and Jeff Carter, the team now has one of the deepest prospect pools in the league.

In an article written by Lance Green for Flyers Nitty Gritty, he likens Konecny to current King, Dustin Brown.
«In fact, these players' games are so similar that it would be like the Kings just found Brown's clone. Both play the right wing, both offer very similar point production (when healthy), both play a very physical/gritty style of game[...]If Konecny were to be traded to the Kings, it would be as if LA were getting a Brown 2.0, just 13 years younger!»
Brown, 37 is in his last year and currently makes $5.875 million. The two have many similarities and are on similar contacts. With the King's second in the Pacific, there are indications that their rebuild is almost done. Brown plays on the third line centred by second overall pick
Quinton Byfield.
Konecny is much better than Brown and should he join the Kings, he could play with
Phillip Danault. Danault has thrived with gritty players and another player we can compare Konecny to is
Brendan Gallagher, who Danault had a lot of success with.
If the Flyers do make a trade with the Kings, Green says that they could get anything they want!' and says that
Brandt Clarke and
Samuel Fagemo are who the team should take a close look at.
Clarke was drafted 8th overall in 2021 by the Kings and has the potential to be a number one defenceman in the NHL. The 19-year-old is already 6'2 and 185 pounds with room to grow. Green cites his amazing skating ability and offensive mindset as his strong points.
"He is an offensive threat with elite skating ability. While playing for the Barrie Colts this season, Clarke has managed to score 10 goals and 41 assists for 51 points in just 42 games played."
According to Elite Prospects, "Clarke's brain and ability to process the movement of others on the ice to make his own reads is elite. He sees things that others do not, is patient with the puck, and allows the play to develop before he makes his decision."
Fagemo on the other hand is a 21-year-old sniper from Sweden. the second round pick has been playing pro in the SHL and has showcased his 'sniper like precision'. At the 2020 World Junior Championship, Fagemo scored 8 goals and 13 points in 7 games for Sweden.
Green says that "Adding Fageno would give the Flyers a legit sniper who possesses the ability to become a top-line player in the NHL really soon, which would only add to the scary youth the Flyers have already coming up the pike:
Tyson Foerster,
Zayde Wisdom,
Elliot Desnoyers,
Bobby Brink, and Connor McClennon."
If Konecny goes, let's hope one of these studs is on their way Philly.
