Wade Allison was injured yet again last night as the Lehigh Valley Phantoms played the Laval Rocket. Just 13:50 into the first period, Allison headed to the Phantoms locker room with what appeared to be a slash or cut on his right wrist.

However, the injury was just a scare and Allison was able to return for the second period, topping off the night with the game winning goal and two assists. A Laval defenceman accidentally stepped or skated on Allison's wrist.
"Fans in the lower bowl have been tweeting at me that his wrist/hand looked "nasty" as he was exiting play," tweeted AHL Phantoms reporter Tony Androckitis.

Allison spoke to Androckitis after the game and had this to say.
"Again?! I don't know, the back of my wrist was hurting and I was just like ah, assumed it was just a stinger - a stick in the back of the wrist all of a sudden, I looked down and my whole hand was covered in blood. It's pretty large here (pointing to his wrist). Pretty deep, cut my veins & stuff."
After a few stitches from the doctor and a ruined tattoo, Allison was back in action for the second period.
"Just" four or five stitches on his right wrist. We're all good. Doc set me up, took care of me and now it's in the past."
With about 16:30 in the third and with the game tied at 3-3, Allison took advantage of the powerplay and blasted a one timer from one knee into the gaping cage. This powerplay marker would eventually be the game winner.
Allison would also pick up assists on goals by Max Willman and Logan Day.
This season Allison has 4 goals and 3 assists in 8 games with the Lehigh Phantoms. Most recently, Allison suffered an MCL sprain just as he made his call up with the Flyers prior to the All-Star break. He also overcame two ankle injuries and an ACL tear. Not to mention his recent high ankle sprain.
At this point, Allison has had more injuries than points but if anything, last game was a positive step for him and the team. A little setback and Allison bounced right back up. Pressure makes diamonds and nobody can ever be successful in the NHL without adversity.
As Flyers Nitty Gritty writer Jamey Baskow puts it,
"Just another day at the office for @wadeallison1."
