Hockey insider and analyst Elliotte Friedman recently went on the Jeff Marek show and dropped a bombshell. It seems as if the Colorado Avalanche and New York Rangers have switched focuses and are no longer making Flyers captain Claude Giroux their main target. Instead, both clubs are looking at Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane to bolster their depth.
However, with the trade deadline about a week away, Friedman says that those are summertime decisions.
«Friedman goes on to say he doesn't think Chicago is ready to part with Kane and/or Toews and they sit down with those two in the summer to see where they are at.»
With the recent rumors of Giroux being less favorable to some trade partners, waiting until the summer to get a top tier player may be too late for the Avs or Rangers.
