Last Saturday, Feb. 19, a racist gesture was made in the Manitoba junior hockey league leading to a minimum 18 game suspension. TSN reports.
Dauphin Kings defenceman Klim Georgiev was the perpetrator and according to accounts, after the final buzzer he proceeded to lift his stick in the air, making what looked like a bow and arrow gesture towards an indigenous player. The Dauphins played the Waywayseecappo Wolverines that night.
Georgiev will be missing a minimum of 18 games, 7 of which will be served during the playoffs. Since the incident, Georgiev has apologized to the player and the opposing team.
