Fast forward to the end of February, and it appears that this has not changed. A question was posed about whether he would return or what the status is of his injury and Charlie O'Connor responded as it doesn't apply as everyone knows what will happen.
It does pose the question though if Ryan Ellis can no longer play hockey and they're on the hook for their cap hit wouldn't it be prudent of the Flyers to look at trading his contract to a team to get out from under it? This has been done throughout the NHL with former Montreal defenseman Shea weber's contract being passed around from team to team trying to give teams cap relief.
It's a shared and acceptable practice, which I feel the Flyers should look into this, especially with the deadline approaching in two days.
