With the official word from general manager Chuck Fletcher today that the Flyers will begin their rebuild and that they are sellers at this deadline, rumours began to circulate that the Carolina Hurricanes have inquired about re-acquiring their former defenseman Tony DeAngelo.

Sportsnet NHL insider Elliotte Friedman explains that the Hurricanes have expressed some interest, which leads to the question does Chuck Fletcher feel that he should move him after giving up three draft choices and then signing him to a 2-year deal worth $10 million on the same day?
DeAngelo, who is currently on his 5th NHL organization has been having a decent points-getting season playing 56 games, scoring ten goals for 24 assists for 34 points. The blight on his record however is that he's holding a - 26 in his plus-minus.

It's drawn the ire of his head coach John Tortorella as he is a teacher of defensive hockey. This has led Tortorella to bench DeAngelo along with both men showing their displeasure of one another during practice.
Friedman also believes that Flyers forward James van Riemsdyk will also be on the move between now and Friday. As reported in the past, the
Flyers need to retain some or 50% of JVR's salary to make a trade work.
With the trade well drying up and all the stars being moved already before the deadline it'll be interesting to see how Fletcher will improve his club.
