The Philadelphia Flyers have turned the heads and shocked the entire hockey community with their season thus far. From going to one of the worst teams in the NHL in a rebuilding year to a team in legitimate playoff contention, the Flyers have seemingly flipped expectations in 2023-24. Stellar defense, a lethal penalty kill, and a physical group has gotten the orange and black back to the standard of Philadelphia hockey.

There are many contributors to the Flyers success, but the start of it comes from the coaching of head man John Tortorella. Torts has been able to take one of what some analysts were calling the worst roster in the NHL before the season started, and has them staring at first place in the Metro Division.
As the season progresses and the Flyers have no sign of slowing down, it's time to start acknowledging John Tortorella for the 2024 Jack Adams Coach of the Year Award.
Not only are the Flyers exceeding expectations, but they're competing with the NHL's best. The Flyers have been able to compete and defeat some of the NHL's best. The Flyers have seven wins against top-ten NHL teams, including a season sweep of the Vancouver Canucks.
The Flyers are skating at a high level and the locker room is coming together and believing in themselves. Many players such as Morgan Frost and Rasmus Ristolainen have spoken to how Tortorella's coaching has restored their careers and how much they enjoy playing for Torts.
