It has been a special year in Philadelphia thus far for the orange and black. The Flyers ride into the end of January with 56 points and in second place in the Metro Division, just on the heels of the first place New York Rangers. As they currently hold a five game winning streak headed into today's matchup, this statistic shows just how good this years Flyers squad is.

This time last season, the Flyers were sitting all the way at seventh in the Metro Division with just 19 wins. Today, the Flyers have 25 wins and are second in the division with a legitimate shot at the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Flyers have improved in all areas, but the most improvement has been shown on the defensive end. Philly is anchored by two phenomenal goalies in Carter Hart and Samuel Ersson who have combined for a 2.64 goals against average this season, much lower than last seasons GAA of 3.20.
Most impressive has been the Flyers penality kill. The Flyers penalty kill has been so dominate, many in the league call it a "power kill" because of how elite the Flyers have become at it. The Flyers are top five in the league in the penalty kill with an 86% kill rate, compared to 75% last season.
The penalty kill has been led by 2024 NHL All-Star Travis Konecny who leads the NHL with five shorthanded goals on the season thus far.
