The saying "You can never have too much depth" is frequently echoed by NHL stars, coaches, and management teams. Depth can take various forms, such as trades to acquire additional assets, including players or draft picks, or waiver wire pickups where teams identify potential value in certain players.
As the Flyers' rebuild gains momentum, General Manager Danny Briere remains committed to bolstering the team's depth. Recently, one player signed on for a second season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms - Jordy Bellerive.
Hailing from North Vancouver, BC, Bellerive is a 24-year-old center, standing at 5 feet 10 inches and weighing 194 pounds. Last season, he showcased his skills with the Phantoms, playing in 61 games, scoring eight goals, providing 12 assists, accumulating 20 points, and serving 55 penalty minutes.
Bellerive's AHL career includes three seasons with the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins. While he currently occupies a spot on the bottom 6, he could become a candidate for a call-up to the Flyers in the event of an injury.
