Flyers Today: Wells Fargo Center has never been emptier

Here's everything you need to know surrounding the orange and black.

1. Despite the loss against Carolina, the Flyers played a very good game. Philadelphia finished the first period with 12 shots on Frederik Andersen, and conceded only 2. However, a weird goal permitted Carolina to take a 1-0 lead 30 seconds into the second period and the Flyers trailed 3 times in this game, before giving up the game winning goal in overtime.

2. Gerry Mayhew is taking advantage of his stint in the NHL. He scored 3 goals in his last 2 games.

3. Isaac Ratcliffe also played an excellent game, alongside Patrick Brown. The former made some very good defensive plays, and prepared Brown's goal in a great fashion.

4. The Wells Fargo Center was half empty yesterday. Was it because it was an afternoon game on a Monday ? Not everyone has a day off on President's day, but it's a trend that has been growing in recent weeks.

5. Once again, Travis Sanheim played a very good game against the Hurricanes. He registered one assist and played 24:55. He was the most used player on the team. In 26 games under Yeo, Sanheim scored 15 points at even strength. He is the 6th most productive D-man in the NHL at EV during that span.

6. Carter Hart was out yesterday due to an eye infection. He could be back tonight against the Blues.

7. Speaking of the Blues, they just won 6-3 in Toronto, and were victorious in 3 of their last 4 games. On the opposite side, the Flyers lost their 5th straight game.

8. Flyers' powerplay remains an enigma. If they were just a bit more successful at 5 vs 4, I don't think that they would be on a 5-game losing streak.
