On Thursday night the Philadelphia Flyers returned home to the Wells Fargo Center for the first time since Dec. 21 as they welcomed the Columbus Blue Jackets to town. Despite a big night from All-Star forward Travis Konecny, the Flyers fell 3-2 in the shootout.

Although the Flyers picked up a point, they very well missed out on an easy win as they relinquished a 2-0 lead in the third period. The Flyers powerplay also continued to struggle going 0-4 on the night, including not being able to capitalize on a 5-on-3 advantage in the first period.
Before puck drop, Flyers forward Travis Konecny was selected to the 2024 NHL All-Star game for the second time in his career. On Thursday night, he showed why he's headed to Toronto as he netted both goals for the Flyers. Konecny now has earned a point in nine straight games.

In goal, Flyers goalie Samuel Ersson played a solid game as he made 26 saves on 28 shots, including some timely saves in the third period and overtime. In the end, the Flyers had another third period meltdown and couldn't hold the 2-0 lead, much to the dismay of head coach John Tortorella.
"We need to play with the 2-0 lead longer, first of all. That's where I think you can grind a team. We give up the first one too quickly. When they score the second ... prior to that, they had very few chances, but they piled them up after the second goal. So, take a point and go."

In the shootout a Johnny Gaudreau wrist shot made the difference as the Flyers failed to capitalize in the shootout, and Columbus escaped Philly with a win.
The Flyers have currently lost six of their last seven and look to get back on track on Saturday afternoon as welcome the Calgary Flames to town at 1:00p.m.
