This summer will be a huge one for the Flyers. With in mind an "aggressive retool", Chuck Fletcher will have his hands full. However, there's some important steps to take before making those big changes.

And one of them is to find a way to dump James Van Riemsdyk's contract. It would free up some necessary cap space to bring impact players.

Some people don't think that Fletcher will succeed to trade JVR. In fact, there's just a small list of team's who would accept to acquire him. And if they do, the Flyers will have to send some valuable assets the other way.

However, Charlie O'Connor, from The Athletic, made a big prediction : James Van Riemsdyk will not be on the Flyers' roster next year.

"If I had to guess, van Riemsdyk isn't on the Flyers roster next season (...) That said, finding a taker for him won't be easy, especially after this season. I highly doubt they could convince another team to take on the full $7 million cap hit for 2022-23 without adding a sweetener," wrote O'Connor.

Van Riemsdyk showed that he could still be a valuable player, but his contract is too much too handle for a team that wants to win.

The 32-year-old forward scored 17 goals and added 13 assists in 69 games this season.
