On Saturday afternoon the Philadelphia Flyers will be welcoming the Calgary Flames to the Wells Fargo Center for a Saturday matinee matchup at 1:00 p.m. EST. Although this may seem like a normal regular season game for some, the Flyers will be paying tribute to late owner Ed Snider as they host the Ed Snider Legacy Game.

On what would have been Mr. Snider's 91st birthday on Saturday, January 6, the Flyers and the city of Philadelphia will be honoring the man who founded the orange and black with tribute videos, photographs and signage across the arena, as well as raising money for Snider's foundation.
Flyers Charities is said to be making a $300,000 donation to Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education. Before puck drop at 1:00p.m. the daughter of the late Mr. Snider, Lindy Snider, will be doing the ceremonial puck drop followed by a tribute video played on the jumbotron.
Mr. Snider had a tremendous impact on the Flyers organization and the city of Philadelphia. Even in his later days, he left an impact on every Flyers player who came through the organization. Sean Couturier was quick to give Mr. Snider his praises and appreciation for making the Flyers his home.
"He was great with everyone and treated everyone the same way. He was really caring and even with me coming in as a rookie he always treated me with respect and seeing him after the games he'd come around and shake your hand and it meant a lot coming from your owner. It's nice knowing that he is still remembered and that his legacy will live on forever."
