On Thursday night the Philadelphia Flyers dropped their six loss in seven games as they relinquished a 2-0 lead to the Columbus Blue Jackets, losing 3-2 in the shootout. Before the game, John Tortorella made the decision to scratch the struggling Cam Atkinson and Morgan Frost from the lineup.

Before Thursday's game, both Frost and Atkinson have been struggling as of late. When asked after the game about why Frost and Atkinson were healthy scratches, Tortorella was quick to answer with a typical Torts response.
"That's between me and the athletes."
Simple enough. Atkinson, however, has been really struggling and it has been visibly showing. Atkinson has not scored in 22 consecutive games and really seems to be pressured to produce. Last night was probably just a great opportunity for Atkinson to reset his mind and sit back and observe.

For some fans, scratchign Morgan Frost seemed a bit controversial as, although he hasn't been playing outstanding, doesn't seem to be struggling as much as some other forwards according to fans.

Whatever the reason Tort's had, it will be interesting to see if these moves can light a spark under Frost and Atkinson and it will be interesting to see if they are back in the lineup on Saturday against Calgary.
