Former Flyers players helped the Panthers do the impossible.
The unthinkable has happened tonight, the mighty Boston Bruins of this season, who have only lost four games at home and amassed the best-winning record in any NHL season for any team went down to the Florida Panthers 4-3 in seven games.
To say this is a big deal is probably the understatement of the decade, the Bruins were considered heavy favourites to clean sweep right across the NHL and win the entire playoff yet the Panthers managed to dig in and get themselves out of a three to 1 hole and stormed back to take the series.
Many former Flyers were part of this team including, Nick Cousins, Sergei Bobrovsky, Alex Lyon and Radko Gudas. This team accomplished something that was deemed impossible and the Panthers became the 7th franchise in NHL history to win their first two-game sevens on the road.
As the playoffs move on, the Florida Panthers now will meet the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round, yes you read that right the Maple Leafs are in the second round for the first time in 19 years.
This NHL playoffs certainly seem to hold something special for numerous teams that were deemed underdogs or trying to get over the hump.
