"Dear fans, and everyone else. I would just like to tell you briefly what happened today when I was involved in the accident. I was at fault. On Plzeňská, I tried to cross from one direction to another. I checked the other side and drove into it (the tram)."
Jagr was attempting to cross a busy intersection and didn't notice the tram traveling in the same direction as he was. He explained that he only noticed the train until it was half a meter in front of him; at he very last second.
"I thought it was the end. I have always believed that a major force has a hand over me, and today I have seen it again. Thank God!"
Despite his Kia being completely totalled, Jagr claims to have climbed out of his window without any injuries and gratefully nobody was hurt.
"Most importantly, nothing happened to the passengers on the tram. I would like to end this sad event. And I thank everyone for their understanding and also for their help to those who intervened on the spot."
Jagr, 50, most recently spent this season playing in the Czech pro league for Rytři Kladno where he had 8 goals and 11 assists in 43 games.
We are sending our best wishes to everyone involved and express our gratitude that nobody was hurt.
