A letter has been sent from Hockey Canada stating, «We have not done enough to end the culture of toxic behavior within our game". This letter was published on Thursday stating that the case will be reopened. This was in regard to the 2018 sexual assault case involving members of the National Junior team.
"We are reopening the investigation into the alleged sexual assault perpetrated by members of the 2018 National Junior Team," Hockey Canada stated. "This investigation continues to be led by an independent third party and will require all players to participate," . "Those who do not will be banned from all Hockey Canada activities and programs effective immediately."
Per the Washington Post, a woman claimed 8 members of 2018 World junior team of Canada sexually assaulted her following a Hockey Canada Foundation Golf game that took place sometime in June. Flyers goaltender Carter Hart was a part of that team as the starting goalie, nothing has been said on an accusation towards Hart at all.
The case was marked closed in 2020 and an apology was made from the team. Then of recent, federal and public funding for Hockey Canada was stopped until it shared the complete results of the initial investigation and its plans to address change in the organization.
This is a terrible thing to even witness and have it gone through for all parties involved. A fair and truthful outcome is all that can be wished for.
