The NHL trade deadline is officially over and the Philadelphia Flyers did absolutely nothing. Chuck Fletcher stated just weeks before March 3rd that the Flyers will be 'big sellers', but each and every Flyers fan called bluff, and they were correct.
Chuck Fletcher stated to have had James Van Riemsdyk on the trading block, who is earning the second most salary on the Flyers, and is a player who will be leaving the Flyers during the off-season as expected due to being an unrestricted free agent. So, why not get a draft pick and also give JVR the opportunity to play in the playoffs instead of losing him for zip?
That's reportedly what Chuck Fletcher tried to do, and he reportedly even went to the extent of saying he told all 31 teams that he would retain 50% of JVR's salary, and teams still did not budge. He even took a shot at JVR whenever he revealed that no teams wanted him at all 'i even tried to move him for a 4th, no takers'.
