Flyers head coach John Tortorella's expectations of his team are quite high. They are asked to follow through with his instructions on how to play the game, especially on the defensive end.
Two of their forwards Tanner Laczynski and newcomer Brendan Lemieux who made his debut tonight against the Detroit Red Wings did not receive a glowing recommendation and review from their coach.
Torts in his usual unrelenting honesty felt that both players were out of shape but they banged away against the opposition all game.
Must read on FlyersInsider
Lemieux who came over from a trade from the Los Angeles Kings has been out for three months with an injury and played his first game on February 18th. He certainly has a long way to go to get back into game shape and learn from his new linemates.
Laczynski, Who also was recovering from a long-term injury was out for three months with an ankle sprain. He mentioned that this will give him a chance to give the coach and coaching staff a good look at his skill set and to see if he can fit into their plans in 23-24.
The Flyers won tonight 3-1 against the Detroit Red Wings and will play on the road against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday, March 7th. Game time will be at 7:00 PM.
