When it came to the Philadelphia Flyers, one name resonates with all fans across the NHL who happens to be the late Ed Snider. Snyder was the majority owner of the Flyers from 1967 till his death in 2016.
During that time as owner, Snider provided the fan base with many winning additions to the Flyers including back-to-back Stanley Cup wins in 1974 and 75. Snider was the face of the Flyers and hockey in the city of Philadelphia. He was revered by many and gave back to the community when he created the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation.
Sadly Mr. Snider died on April 11th, 2016 at the age of 83. Fast forward to today in 2023, the Flyers had a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Flyers management and ownership decided to give a video tribute which left some fans disappointed in their reception of their late beloved owner.
Since Mr. Snider did so much for the city of Philadelphia with the Flyers, many fans felt that he should have received a full honouring of his memory before the game rather than just a video tribute for less than 5 minutes.
