On Friday morning a few days before Travis Sanheim's 8-year long NTC kicked in, former long time NHL player and announcer Ray Ferrraro, addressed Sanheim's contract on his podcast.

Darren Dregs and Ray Ferraro host a podcast titled «The Ray and Dregs Podcast» and in an episode on June 30, Travis Sanheim was a main topic of discussion.
Ray Ferraro seemed to have some strong feelings on the matter saying how bad of an idea it is to give players a no-trade-clause, especially on long contracts. «They hand them out like candy» Ray said.

He also feels as though Travis Sanheim is in no way deserving of a NTC or an 8-year-deal. «How has Travis Sanheim, with all due respect. Earned an 8-year contract with a no-trade-clause? The fact is he hasn't, the fact is he's got it and it becomes incredibly difficult to move it.»
Ray Ferraro also went on to add that he doesn't feel any pity for general managers who hand out these contracts, because it's ultimately their fault when they want to move the player but can't. Which is clearly a shot at former Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher who signed Sanheim to the deal. And was later fired from his position after a brutal tenure.
This is not Sanheim's fault by any means, I'm actually one of the people who want to see him succeed and earn every dollar of his contract, it should be and it is Chuck Fletchers fault.
