The Flyers are finally on their way home after a long, tiring and eventful five-game road trip. The Flyers will take the ice at the Wells Fargo Center on January 4 agains the Columbus Blue Jackets for the first time since December 21. Needless to say, the Flyers are glad to be home.

Starting on December 22, the team traveled to Detroit to take on the Red Wings which turned out to be one of the most exciting games of the season thus far. The team fell behind big early as they ended the first period down 5-1. After a Nick Seeler fight that seemed to be a spark, the Flyers went on a roll and mounted a comeback to send the game to overtime at 6-6.
Both teams goalies shined in OT but it was ultimately Detroit that got the shootout win as Patrick Kane sealed it for the Red Wings. Nevertheless, the Flyers went into the break with a point.
The team came out from the break with a dominant performance against one of the NHL's top clubs in the Vancouver Canucks as they poured in a flurry of three goals within two minutes in the second period led by Egor Zamula, Sean Walker, and Joel Farabee as they cruised to a 4-1 victory.

The next night the team traveled to Seattle where they were in a defensive battle. The team battled through fatigue, injuries and illness as Travis Konecny, also fighting an illness, netted a shorthanded goal at the end of the first period.
The Flyers ultimately fell in overtime but kept their road game point streak alive as the streak moved to nine.
On New Year's Eve, the Flyers' point streak came to an end as they traveled to Calgary and took on the Flames. Despite the Flyers grabbing an early lead with a Rasmus Ristolainen goal, the team's fatigue once again showed as they allowed three goals in the third period as Calgary got the 4-3 win.
Tuesday night, the Flyers dropped the road game finale and their fifth of their last six as they were dominated by the Edmonton Oilers and Connor McDavid. The Flyers had no answer for the Oilers star as McDavid accounted for all five goals for Edmonton, scoring the first and assisting the next four as the Flyers fell 5-2.
The Flyers ride a three-game skid heading back to Philadelphia but have plenty of opportunities to get back on track; the first coming on Thursday night as Johnny Gaudreau and the Columbus Blue Jackets come to town.
