Cam York, Ronnie Attard and Yegor Zamula are three of the most promising defensive prospects the Flyers have in the pipeline. This season gave them a chance to shine but also put them in a situation to fail. It's like being a super smart student but having an awful teacher.
Despite all this, the future looks brighter and this triplet on defence looks like they're here to stay.
Eric Reese of Philadelphia Sports Network evaluated their seasons respectively.

York began the season in the AHL, something no fan wanted to see. He struggled with injuries and had some rough patches in the NHL but ultimately performed decently for a rookie on a terrible team. Note all these advanced stats are taken from their games versus playoff teams.
"Against the best of the NHL, York touts a 49.1%CF with 9HIT and 24BLK against the 2022 NHL Stanley Cup playoff bracket. Offensively, York totaled seven points (3G, 4A) versus playoff opponents. That accounts for all the goals he scored and most of his assists."
York's CF% is any shot attempt made by a player during a game while York is on the ice. It includes all shot attempts, regardless if the shot is on goal or blocked. The average NHL CF% is between 45-55 percent.
Makar for example had a 55.7 percent CF in all situations.
Attard, who played in 15 NHL games this season, somehow plays better without York and Ristolainen in the lineup.
"Attard played six games against the current 2022 Stanley Cup playoff bracket. Three included York and Ristolainen in the lineup. It's interesting to note how he did with them in the lineup (40.7%CF, 7HIT, 2BLK) versus a worse lineup following April 12th, 2022 (49.5%CF, 5HIT, 6BLK.)"
Lastly, Zamula had an amazing stint versus playoff teams in the regular season. In only 10 games, he posted a 70.7%CF, 4HIT, 6BLK on average.
By season's end however, his numbers were more realistic (46.7%CF, 5HIT, 19BLK, 3TK).
"Provorov, Sanheim, and York likely set the LD in 2022-2023. Zamula is shaping to be a seventh defenceman in the Flyers system."
