Being a sports fan. What does it mean when someone is a fan of a team or a sport. Well, that depends on where you live and what team you cheer for. Here in Philadelphia, things are different. There is an expectation, and when you don't live up to it, or play your best or even do what you say you are going to- you will hear the fans and rightfully so.

Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher announced to the media and the fan base that he was going in the offseason with a «aggressive retool» mindset. Knowing who was in free agency, knowing what needed to be done, and worse of all knowing how important to these fans it was to have a better product on the ice. Ticket prices have been raised the last few years, upgrades were made, but once again- where is the product that they this loyal fan base is paying for?
When a player like Johnny Gaudreau becomes a free agent, you have to do everything you can to acquire him. A local kid who practically gave himself to you, told his family and friends he was coming to play with the Flyers- Johnny G was every Philadelphia Flyers fan. That being said, the Flyers didn't even make him an offer and he had signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

This is where the story takes a darker toll, it's said that the reason for Johnny Gaudreau not coming home to the Flyers, was due to cap space. Not a thing was done to adjust it, move players, DO WHAT YOU SAID YOU WERE GOING TO DO!
The entire Philadelphia Flyers fanbase is outraged, and they have a good reason to be. Not only did management drop the ball on the bringing in an elite player, but they really didn't bring in much at all this offseason. They brought some upgraded areas to accommodate for such a poor team. It's just not right. I feel for the fans, I feel for anyone that has to cover this team right now. GM Chuck Fletcher failed the fanbase yet once again.
