Well, there were rumors about it, but it's now official: the Coyotes, starting next season, will play in a 5000 seats capacity arena.
The organisation signed a multi-year agreement (with one more year in option) with Arizona State University to play in their arena. So basically, for at least two years (maybe three), the Coyotes will play NHL games in an arena that has less seating capacity than the arena of the Brandon Wheat Kings in the Western Hockey League.
For the NHL, this deal is an embarrassment. In the recent years, it seems clear that the Coyotes' market wasn't developing as hoped. There are a ton of solutions to make up for it around North America, but Gary Bettman doesn't want to hear anything about it.
