In a display of remarkable determination and love for the game, Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Bruce Gamble made headlines in 1972 when he had a heart attack during a game.

Surprisingly, after his cardiac episode, Gamble took a quick break to smoke a cigarette and then bravely returned to finish the game, leading his team to victory.
However, postgame evaluations revealed that the heart attack was severe, and Gamble should have been incapacitated for several days. Despite the grave nature of his condition, Gamble insisted to his coaches and doctors that he wanted to continue playing amateur hockey.
Tragically, 11 years later, Gamble suffered another heart attack during a pickup hockey game, which ultimately claimed his life. His unwavering passion for the sport will forever be remembered.
RIP Bruce.
