These two trades will give headaches to Flyers fans

When you look at the state of the Flyers, one of the questions that pops up in your head is the following : when did it go wrong?

One of the main issues for the Flyers in the recent years was their inability to draft properly. The other was, too often, trades that seems good at first sight, but ended up being costly for the team.

And we have two of them in mind : the first one is the Andre MacDconald trade. The Flyers acquired him for forward Matt Mangene, a third-round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, and a second-round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

The third round pick in 2014 became Ilya Sorokin, who is the Islanders starting goaltender. He has a 2.30 GAA average and a .927 save percentage this season. The second round pick is Brandon Carlo, who is a top-4 defenseman with the Boston Bruins.

Let's go to the second trade. In June 2013, the Flyers traded for defenseman Mark Streit in return of a 4th round pick in 2014 and Shane Harper. This pick became Devon Toews, who is arguably one of the most underrated defenseman in the NHL. He has 55 points in 62 games this season.
