This team could be out of the Claude Giroux sweepstakes

The Colorado Avalanche, which seems to be the frontrunner to obtain the services of Claude Giroux for a long time, could now be out of the race.

This is only speculation for the moment, but James Iacavone highlighted an important detail. There haven't been any Flyers scouts at the Avalanche or Eagles (AHL affiliate of Colorado) games recently. Also, in the last few games of the Flyers, Avalanche's scouts weren't in attendace.

But does it really say anything on the Avalanche intentions regarding Giroux? I don't know. Last Saturday, a scout of the Avs was at the Lehigh Valley game in the AHL.

With that being said, I agree with him when he says that Giroux isn't a necessity for Colorado, as they need some bottom-6 forwards more than a top-6 forward.

With the things we heard about what Joe Sakic wanted to give for the Flyers captain, I think there are far more better options, like the Wild, the Blues, the Panthers or even the Hurricanes.
